The coordination of Zn-tetraphenylporphine with 2-aminopyridine and 2-aminopyrimidine in chloroform was studied by electron spectroscopy. It was found that more stable complexes were formed in the latter case. Thermodynamics of the process is discussed. The isolated crystals of the complexes were investigated by x-ray analysis, and it was shown that the increased stability of the 2-aminopyrimidine adduct was due to the formation of hydrogen bonds between the two molecules involving nitrogen atoms of the pyrimidine ring and the amino group.
